How to Clean Your Microscope

1. Prevention

The best way to keep your microscope clean is prevention.
Keep your microscope covered whenever it is not in use to prevent dust build up.

We recommend using a microscope dust cover, which you can purchase from our store.
We offer a variety of microscope dust covers in different sizes and ESD safe ones:

Dust covers

•  Plastic cover (Small)
•  Plastic cover (Medium)
•  Fabric cover (Small)
•  Fabric cover (Medium)
•  ESD cover (Small)
•  ESD cover (Medium)

It is important to have the right cleaning tools. Do not use your fingers, shirt, or ordinary cloth to clean eyepieces or any optical components.

We also offer a cleaning kit, which you can purchase from our store. The cleaning kit includes tools you need to clean and maintain your microscope.

2. Cleaning the Eye Pieces

Use the dust blower to remove any dust.

If there is still dust, use the brush to gently brush off any remaining dust particles.

If the lens is still dirty, use the lens cleaning solution for a deeper clean.

Spray a tiny amount of solution onto a clean cotton swab. In a circular motion, use the cotton swab to clean the lens, starting from the center of the lens and working your way to the edges.

(Try to minimize cleaning the lens with the cotton swab, as each time you expose the lens it does a small amount of wear and increases the chances of scratching the surface.)

3. Cleaning the Body

For small and hard to reach areas, use the dust blower and brush to remove dust particles.

You may also spray the body cleaning solution onto the cleaning cloth, and gently wipe the surfaces, including the base, focus knobs, and post.
